abby rike, from the biggest loser, bereaved mother and wife, lost her husband, 5 year old daughter, 2 week old son, in a horrific accident, says: i had everything i ever thought i wanted in life, and then so much more
ellen degeneres: and then it's just in one second, gone
abby: one foul swoop
ellen: so.. how do you? what do you say to somebody? how do you get out of losing everything?
abby: for me, that was the starting point, and here i am today. it wasn't instantaneous. i did however make the choice immediately that i was going to.. to live. it just took me awhile to figure out how to get to here. because i had to come and assimilate in my own mind, do you believe everything that you thought you believed? and i can say yes. i cant say that for everyone else. everyone has to come to that on their own. but i'll see them again. and it will be a great reunion. and so that's what fuels me forward, that i'm going to do everything i can on this earth, because i'm going to be with them again.
[thunderous applause and cheers]
ellen: im happy for you. im happy that you're happy. you're a true inspiration. because you look happy. and in a moment like that, when you find that information out that you've lost your whole family. you just can't imagine ever feeling like that again. ever. and you do.
abby: absolutely. and that's the one thing that i want people to know, is that even in your darkest hour, there is always hope. you think that you cant make it through, and it's amazing... that you have the power.. not to control you life, but to control how you respond. and i chose to soar now.
