A&E's hoarders addresses stillbirth

gosh.. here lately i've been posting multiple times per day.

there is a show called "hoarders" and im sure all of my american readers know what it is, but maybe for those of you international it needs some explanation. there has been a boom in the past 10 years with reality television. this show is about people who are obsessive compulsive collectors of possesions... JUNK. it literally takes over their lives.

this recent episode is recognition, in a way, to stillbirth. the havoc that it can wreak. the specialist that comes in says "there is grief in this house. a child has died." the mother, chris, started collecting possesions to try to fill the void of the loss of her son. we all know how well that works.

you have to choose the "chris and dale" story line once the first commercial has passed. right now, it's the second story line on the right side there. it is easy to skip over the dale story in each part.

the parts where she finds the possesions of her baby are particularly heartwrenching.

personally.. i cant say i blame her for wanting to save his things. i have been able to give away some of katie's things in memory of her, and her siblings will use her things.. but some of it, i know, is here to stay forever.

  1. I can't view the show from here in the UK, but I can imagine it.
I can not bring myself to get rid of anything intended for Florence.

  2. I still have kept everything. I also have adopted a new habit of buying anything and everything that is orange. It was HeeJun's favorite color.

  3. I read this post in the wee hours of the morning and I thought about it several times today. We went and bought a toy to put under the tree for Ella and I thought oh my gosh, I'm going to be a hoarder. I don't even have a child to open this gift up. It is so understandable. Instead of moments, we have mementos. I'm going to have to see if I can watch the episode online. And then pray they don't come knocking on my door in a few years.
