where you are

where you are
you don't feel
the sadness that we feel
in your absence
but where you are
do you see
three years worth of tears
we've cried for you
where you are
do you understand
why you had to leave us
where you are
do you experience
the events you miss:
the births of your grandchildren
the marriage of your daughter
the kisses goodnight from your wife
the cheers from your sons
when texas wins
where you are
do you remember
what a great
daddy
husband
friend
granddaddy
you were
where you are
do you know
when you will embrace us again

Beth, this is such a beautiful piece. I never thought about this, but it makes me wonder too. I also wanted to let you know I just read the comment on my gallery blog with all the poems and you can absolutely use any of it. Sorry I hadn't read any of the comments from that blog in a while, I need to link them to my email.
ReplyDeleteHope you are well and praying for you!
