I wrote this on facebook.. but it took me foreverrrr... so I'm posting it here too, for posterity :)

25 things about me.


1. I love children, especially babies. I prefer the company of people under the age of 1 to any other person. Seriously :)
2. On that note, I have been waiting to have a child since I was 18 months old and got my first doll crib and baby doll. The picture is so cute, I have my own paci still, while holding the little baby next to the crib. I begged my mother to have a baby while I was in elementary school, and in high school I was saying I'd be married and pregnant at 22.
3. I didn't decide I wanted to be a nurse until I was 25 years old, but it is the best decision I ever made.
4. My first crush in 2nd grade is now a policeman. One of my more serious ex-boyfriends is now a policeman. I was destined to be with one and I wouldn't want a husband with any other profession.. I am so proud of him, and he's proud of me in my job too.
5. I am deathly afraid of trachs, chest tubes, and I cannot stand nasty infected ulcers. I'm so glad pediatric patients dont really get ulcers, but the other two are harder to avoid :-/
6. I never had a dog while growing up, and I had absolutely no idea what I was missing. I love my Deputy and my Pepper!
7. I love chocolate everything, except I prefer vanilla ice cream. And I don't like a lot of crap in my ice cream either (chips, nuts, swirls, etc). Just a nice vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and maybe one topping... yummmmmmmm.
8. When we share, John always lets me have the cherry, without having to even ask him :)
9. We all seem to learn, good friends are hard to come by, and harder to keep unless you BOTH work at it. This makes me sad.
10. However.. with me, family has been so easy. We stay extremely close and don't really have to try. Blood is thicker than water, and I feel lucky because I know that's not true in everyone's families. My mom and my brothers will always be my best friends, and I love my brothers' children as my own.
11. I will never, ever, be over the loss of my father. I think about him daily if not hourly. Time heals, but it doesn't change anything. He was one of the sweetest, kindest, funniest, and most handsome of people, inside and out, that you could ever meet. My brothers and I all look just like him too (our mom had nothing to do with it, she was just the oven!), and have many of his personality traits, likes and dislikes too.
12. All four of my grandparents outlived my father, and in those 4 and half years, three of them have since passed. They were lucky to live as long as they did, so their deaths were a celebration of life for us. I have three sets of happy and upstanding marriages to look up to. And my in-laws are still married too! :)
13. Twins DO run in my family, yes!
14. I have accepted the love of Jesus Christ in my life, so I know where I'm going!
15. The diamond in my engagement ring is over 75 years old, and belonged to my husband's grandmother. If we have a girl, we are using her name for our middle!
16. I love flip flops and sandals and wear them whenever I can, even in winter. I hate socks!
17. I got married outside in December in open-toed shoes. See?!
18. If I say I'm going to be somewhere and/or do something, you can trust that it will get done or that I will be there. But I have a hard time believing that from other people, I'll admit it :-/ so that's why I might ask you something more than 1, 2, or even 3 times. I do it to everyone. Sorry!
19. I've been to Texas probably 60 times, maybe more, and I've been to Hawaii and Europe twice each, but never made it to Canada or Mexico. I can also estimate that I've been to NYC over 300 times, so I always giggle when people are SOO excited to go there for the first time.
20. I have never done drugs, not even once (and I know very few people who can say that!), and would pick staying home and playing board games over going out every single time :)
21. I love lame corny jokes, a good play on words, and knock knock jokes, much better than dirty jokes or nasty humor. 20 & 21 say I'm a big dork and I am truly proud of that!!!
22. Even though I don't prefer dirty jokes, when there's a cop and a nurse in the house... gross and vile stories are always fair game, even at the dinner table..haha.
23. I am fiercely pro-life, and I won't discuss it. If you want to know what I believe, read abort73.com (wow, that was a shameless plug!)
24. My horoscope, aries, doesn't describe me at all.
25. I am an open book and an easy read. My heart and mind are both on my sleeve, and what you see is what you get. I'll tell anyone pretty much anything, and I mean anything, if you let me talk long enough. There isn't any one thought, feeling, or event in my life that at least one other person doesn't know, even the darkest, craziest, or most personal things. I might be a big dork who loves board games and never does drugs, but that doesn't make me boring by any means whatsoever. I've done and felt my fair share! :)
